    The problem statement’s primary goal is to identify and explain the issue. This includes explaining the current environment, the location of the problem, and the consequences for users, finances, and related activities. The problem statement is also used to describe what the expected environment will be like. The overarching vision for the process or product is defined by defining the intended condition. It specifies the reason for starting the improvement project as well as the objectives to be achieved.

    The problem statement is the second part of the research proposal. In the problem statement, the researcher discusses what the problem is and why it is being studied. A well written problem statement helps to focus the research question and guides the researcher in developing the plan for answering the research question. A problem statement is a concise description of an issue to be addressed or a condition to be improved upon.
