One of my favourite TV ads shall be in the 90s. KFC ads with the tagline “finger lickin’ good” are unforgettable. In the 90s, many of us wouldn’t have the affordability to have KFC food on a frequent basis. Back then KFC was premium food. Most of the families enjoy KFC once a month or some even yearly once. The screenplay of the advertisement will trigger the temptation in you. The way they show the fried chicken, the way they peel off the flesh, the juices sprinkling out will make you feel so tempted and waiting to taste it. This is the success of KFC advertisement back then. Although they were in the premium food category at that time, the way they tempt people and make them spend at least once a month is their success. Back then we have stall fried chicken which is much cheaper or even our very own home cooked fried chicken but the way KFC embedded the brand in our mind with their picturization, tempted you to go KFC and enjoy their fried chicken.

Although KFC first open in Malaysia in 1973, KFC slowly started to be recognized towards the end of the 80s. KFC advertisement started to play a vital role when they localize their food taste and marketing concept. The spicy fried chicken was introduced in mid 90s and that was the turning point for their growth in Malaysia.
