Research is a detail study or also a result based on search of knowledge.
Research is the usage of scientific methods to further understand situations that are happening in the world today. Outcomes of research will enable us to justify and quantify action to be taken to improve the situation.

To add to Boon Seong and Leonard’s input, research will start with a question to be investigated, starting with hypothesis, data gathering and analysis. These scientific methodologies is crucial to confirm whether hypothesis is correct or not, and the data gathered is without bias.
To add, we conduct the research and to test whether the hypothesis are correct or not. Same like our science subject during school, we have inference and hypothesis and we conduct the experiment to test whether the inference and hypothesis are correct or not.
Agree. Started with choosing a topic that we wanted to deep dive (can be simple daily needs, till the complex study topics), identify what is important to know and ask the right questions. Then decide what sort of evidence that can support the finding, and sometimes may need to consider the counter-evidence to try disprove the initial hypothesis. Lastly, choosing appropriate scientific techniques to investigate systematically.
Especially in the modern times of information and digital age with variety options been offered in the market, research will help the business to identify the most practical and the best decision, based on the research finding and analysis.

Research is the creation and the justification process of new facts/knowledge. It can also mean using existing knowledge in a new way to generate new concepts and outcomes. The latter is widely known to be used now to improve services and our everyday life, and for future generations.
It will also help us to taking the important decisions and to solving different problems in a better way.

The research consists of a person or a group of people who want to analyse or study the issue or subject and arrive at the study’s findings. Based on the research finding, researchers can continue to expand the future scope so that more analysis and more range of conclusions can be achieved.

Research is finding details whereby you can use any method to search/study and go in depth to get relevant info. In other words, it is an extended analysis on that topic or issue. And we need to get the prove that central argument with some reading. It will take longer time to complete the research and there are a few method can be perform such as : Questionaaires, Interview, Survey , Case Study , Observation .
All progress is born of inquiry. Doubt is often better than overconfidence, for it leads to inquiry, and inquiry leads to invention is a famous Hudson Maxim in context of which the significance of research can well be understood. Research is about finding the facts through diligent investigation using the systematic and scientific method in order to ascertain something. Research also promotes the development of critical thinking as it’s a part and parcel of human knowledge, kind of art as well as investigation science to solve immediate problems of human relations and also different business and government issues.

The research result will be used for business decision. Research play a role to the business field and economy as whole. It helps to understand the customers’ need ,to meet potential investors and so on through research process. For instance as below (just mention few niche of business) :
Healthcare – Research is crucial to finding possible cure for diseases as well as preventive actions for that particular diseases, like current worldwide outbreak, Covid-19.
Creative Industry (like films/drama/broadcasting companies)- They do research and study to create realistic stories based on real-life events and problems. A scriptwriters or content producers realise how vital research is in validate/ justify the context of the stories, which trying to entertain and educate the audience.
Consumer goods – For industries like agriculture, F&B, manufacturing, communication and technology, semiconductors etc invest in R&D in order to improve their products/services/design etc just mean to have competitive advantage as well as to measure and grab opportunities.

Futhermore, other than conducting science experiments, research can be acquired through reading book/ articles, watching shows, listening to talk and interacting with other people which research helps to understand people besides insights obtained via research process like through data collection, analysis and other approaches. In a nutshell, research enables one to understand the new developments in certain field in a better way, equips one with knowledge and keep the mind active.

Good detailed explanation. I personally feel that any research at the end of the day should assist with the problem that humanity is facing in order for the research to lead to something more feasible.
In my opinion, research is the activity that we perform in order for us to gain insight about the subject, the topic or the issue that we are interested in (either work related, hobby, out of curiousity etc).
From the research that we conducted, we gather necessary data for us to digest and further use them to generate valuable discussion. The data from our reseach could be scientific data or historical information. For example, if we are doing a meta analysis on a specific disease such as Coronavirus disease, we would require multiple scientific studies/ journals etc. However, if we are doing a research on public figures such as Ungku Aziz, we will encounter resources such as bibliographies.
Research is very significant in this modern era because we want to eliminate false information, wrong data, biased research and incorrect sources especially we are overwhelmed with lots of information in the internet. False information will lead to bad assumptions, create panic and fear mongering, as well as create bad reputations not only to the informant but also to the organisation.
Research is often related to scientific invention or discovery. However, research is applicable all industries and our daily life. Even in our daily life, we are keen to know about something or learn about something around us. We often ask question such as “Why”, “What”, “How” and “When” within ourselves. This is specifically important to ensure the outcomes or knowledge earned are accurate and reliable.
In modern times, despite all the discoveries, technology and advanced knowledge public had acquired, continuous and critical research is in fact much more needed and significant compared to the past. It is also a definite requirement for all individuals to apply intellectual while researching given that there are too many resources accessible which may or may not provide reliable or accurate facts and information. Google Search platform for example, is the favorite tool of almost everyone to perceive their research in almost every subject or matter from smallest to the biggest concern anyone could have. However, without proper knowledge to apply the tool, one could be led to wrong or inaccurate facts that may cause serious issue if one to blindly accept the fact. Hence as act of researching are nowadays significant to almost every individual rather than only highly focused by scholars in the past, I believe that knowledge on the proper research methods should be disseminate to public and not limited to educational or skilled industry only.

True, in today’s world, research may assist in decision-making.
Research is the process to get an answer for most of the questions or doubtful in the human kind environment starting with what, why and how? It simply means a search for facts, answer to questions and solutions to problems. It can be done by observing the situation again and again to collects the data. From the data, it can draw some conclusion with systematic collection of data, analysis and interpretation. The quantitative research based on collecting facts and figures; while the qualitative research based on collection people’s opinion in specific field.
Why research significance? My opinion, research can’t be only one and stop there. It is a continues process that require to be updated from time to time. It is somehow require an evolution with the updated information and technology.
Example the Covid 19 vaccine. Before the pandemic hits, there’s no Covid 19 vaccine exist and in fact, it is a new virus that never happens before. Medical Researchers immediately works on it by collecting data, the possible origin, how it attacks human body etc.
The research keeps continue from time to time based on current mutation because they want to know how effective the current vaccine could be, due to the latest variant. So that’s how research significance in a modern time and will keep on going for the betterment.
